Santorini ( Private Driving Tour of Santorini Island Half Day )

Description

Tour Duration 4 hours

Pick-up Locations: Santorini Port. Santorini Cable car, Santorini airport, Santorini hotels, Santorini Resorts.

If you arrive by cruise ship in Santorini, disembarkation will be by tender boats to the old port of Fira. Then you get up to Fira by cable car (Round Trip Cable Car tickets - per person 8 euro)
or by a donkey in a traditional way that many travelers choose for fun
In both cases, you will arrive at the exit of Fira cable car, where your driver will be waiting for you holding a sign with your name.

SIGHTSEEING
FIRA
The islands capital lies directly across from the volcano and 260 meters above sea level on the rim of the caldera. Fira is a collection of whitewashed narrow houses long steep alleys and streets. The Archeological Museum of Fira houses the findings from Akrotiri and ancient Thera excavations.

OIA
Oia is considered to be one of the most beautiful villages in Santorini. It is also world famous because of its breathtaking view of the sunset. Ammoudi, located below Oia, the port of the village is worth the visit because of its delicious fish cuisines and the scenic surrounding.

AKROTIRI
The excavation at Akrotiri is considered to be the best preserved settlement in the Aegean. Recent findings have strengthen the theory that Akrotiri was one of the seven cities of Atlantis. Akrotiri will soon re-open its doors and it is a must see when visiting the island.

ANCIENT FIRA
Ancient Fira is located at one of the highest points of the island. Visitors will get a first hand look at what life was like int he Geometric era.

MONASTERY PROFITIS ILIAS
The monastery was built on the highest point of the island and it was built in honor of the prophet Elijah. It resembles a fortress more than a monastery, it possessed considerable wealth in the 1800s. It even had its own ship that conducted trade in the Aegean. It provides visitors with some breathtaking views of the island.

SHOPPING AND DINING:

OIA
Oia offers some really exclusive jewelry stores, local art, and art by international artists whom were inspired by the island. Oia is also home to some of the best cuisines on the island.

FIRA
Boutiques,famous jewelry stores and souvenir shops can be found all over the narrow streets of Fira. Local items recommended for purchase are wine made from grapes home to Santorini, tomato paste, sun dried tomatos (Worth noting that Santorini has some of the tasties tomatoes in the world), hand woven rugs and embroideries.
